Here’s another song from my opening set at Kira Willey Choir & Co. pop-up event. True Colors (written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly) is a Cyndi Lauper pop ballad from my youth and it has endured as a classic. I put my own spin on the song a few months ago, hoping to present it with the unconditional love and acceptance of a both a mom and a nana. What happens here is pure magic…Michael Lear’s gentle percussion, teary-eyed singing in the crowd, Eve Sheldon joining in on piano for the glorious freestyle at the end. All unrehearsed, and with grace.

Such a meaningful event, with Kira Willey and Choir & Co. pop-up choir in celebration of PRIDE month, plus I made a new friend. Michael Lear and I met tonight during stage set up, and he very graciously added drums to a couple of songs. This one is Least Complicated by Indigo Girls. I haven’t played it in years, but it was perfect for the event.
